Son of Yusuf Al-Qaradawi of Egypt

"His son, Abdul-Rahman Yusuf al-Qaradawi, is an Egyptian poet who supported the revolution". In fact, his son was very vocal against Mubarak and delivered a tough poem against Mubarak. (What is not known, is that Abdul-Rahman had converted to Shi`ism, and was going to announce his conversion on Al-Manar TV, but there was pressure that he should not come out publicly).

Salaat (Namaaz) for Tuesday

It is mentioned in the book "Ziyaus Saaleheen", about the salaat for Tuesday.

Today, 15th Rabiul Awwal, First Masjid of Islam came into Existence

This was the first Masjid that the Prophet of Allah (SAW) built on his arrival from Makkah. Its foundations were laid by the Holy Prophet (s.a.) and he spent more than 20 nights here (after migrating) praying qasr while waiting for Imam Ali [a]. It is mentioned in the Qur'an as the mosque founded on piety and devoutness.

It is narrated that the Prophet of heard saying that if you say two Rak'ats Salaat in this Masjid you will get the sawaab of one Umrah.
May Allah give us opportunity to perform Umrah and Hajj and we pray in this historical Masjid.

US Against International Community

15 Security Council members at the U N headquarters
in New York, Feb. 18, 2011
The United States has vetoed a UN resolution that would have condemned "illegal" settlements on the occupied Palestinian territories.
The US cast two vetoes in 2006 when the council tried to pass Arab-backed resolutions that demanded Israel end its military operations against the Gaza Strip.

The other four Council's veto-wielding members -- China, Russia, Britain and France -- and the 10 elected members -- Brazil, Bosnia, Colombia, Gabon, Germany, India, Lebanon, Nigeria, Portugal and South Africa -- voted in favor of the resolution on Friday.

This reflects the wide support for the draft resolution which had about 130 co-sponsors, dpa reported.

The draft resolution had called for the UN Security Council to declare, "Israeli settlements established in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East al-Quds (Jerusalem), are illegal and constitute a major obstacle to the achievement of a just, lasting and comprehensive peace."

The draft said that Israel -- "the occupying power" -- should immediately and completely cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian land.

Both US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke to acting Palestinian Authority (PA) Chief Mahmoud Abbas at length on Thursday in an attempt to sway him, but Abbas rejected a compromise.

Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian envoy to the UN in New York, told reporters after the vote that the PA appreciated the "massive support from UN members for Palestinians' right to see an end to the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories since 1967."

Palestinians argue that the settlement construction is aimed at preventing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Israel occupied al-Quds and the West Bank in the 1967 war -- a move not recognized by the international community and the United Nations.

The UN has repeatedly declared Israeli settlement buildings on Palestinian land as illegal. (PressTv)

Ponder, O Feminist of the West

A sister in Canada who tired of always being asked, in a sympathetic tone, about the attitude of Islam towards women decided to answer her questioners from their own religious texts.  She sent me the results of her researches and I am printing some of them below.                .

  • Wives,  submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. - Colossians 3:18
  • Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands... - 1 Peter 3:1
  • Likewise ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel... - 1 Peter 3:7
  • [Women] are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. - I Corinthians 14:34
  • But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man... - 1 Corinthians 11:3
  • Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. - 1 Corinthians 11:9
  • But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found or the damsel: Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die... - Deuteronomy 22:20-21
  • It is better to live in a corner of the roof than in a house shared with a contentious woman. - Proverbs 25:24                         .
  • Let your women keep silent in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. - 1 Corinthians 14:34
  • Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. - 1 Timothy 2:11-12
  • Wives, submit yourselves unto your husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church... - Ephesians 5:22-23

Preferring Food Over F-16 Fighter Jets: An Iraqi Initiative

Food Over F-16 Fighter Jets
Iraq has delayed the purchase of F-16 fighter jets for its air force to put $900mn of allocated funds into its national food ration programme instead, a government official said yesterday.
Iraq had hoped to have the first of the Lockheed Martin Corp combat aircraft in operation by 2013 to help shape its air force after years of war.
But a growing number of demonstrations over food and electricity shortages have worried the government after popular uprisings have toppled the leaders of Tunisia and Egypt.
“The (F-16) contract was postponed and the $900mn that was allocated to it was transferred to support the (food) ration card (programme),” said Tahseen al-Sheikhli, adviser to government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh.
The F-16 is seen as a symbol of military and political cooperation between Iraq and the US.

Mumbai Muslims Celebrate the Birth of the Holy Prophet (s.a.)

Today is 12th Rabiul Awwal, as per the Ahle Sunnat, the birth and the demise occured on the same day. For this reason in India and Pakistan this day is known as "Baara Wafat."
This day was downplayed by the Wahhabis for some years and they refrained the Muslims from celebrating the birthday of the holy Pophet (s.a.), but, as the funding from Saudi Arabia  dried up they are mere spectators for the grand celebrations all over the country.
Mumbai city is witnessing more and more involvements of Muslim youths in the celebration. Every nook and corner of the city is decorated. There are beautiful stages put up on every street. Loudspeakers blaring Na't shareef to greet the approaching procession irrespective of sects (except Wahhabis). At Bhindi Bazaar square in the old city, a huge stage is  erected where Shia Olama gather to greet the procession.
After Zohr, a procession starts from Khilafat House, Byculla and ends up late night after passing through major squares of the city. Slogans like Naarae Takbir, Naarae Risalat and Naarae Haidery are echoed by the crowd in trucks and lorries.
Tonight, is the night of celebrations for the Muslims and their love for the holy Prophet, Hadhrat Mohammad Mustafa (s.a.), the mercy for the Universes.

End of the Days of the Mourning

Farewell juloos heading towards Rehmatabad, Mazgaon
Today, the 8th of Rabiul Awwal came to an end of the mourning the martyrs of Karbala. There were  programmes of majalis all over the city. A central and final procession in the city left at 4.00 PM from Zainabia Imambada towards Rehmatabad, Mazgaon. Only few Anjumans participate in this juloos (procession).
Today the women have a hectic day. Ladies majalis are held at every locality and the day ends with rejoice and happines. They apply henna and dress in their best celebrating the coming of Eid-e-Zahra.
The 9th Rabiul Awwal is the day of the begining of the Imamat of Imam Mahdi (a.s.), the promised one and the awaited saviour of the mankind.
We wish to every lover of Ahlul Bait (a.s.) a joyous day and request them that not to forget to pray for the early re-appearance of Imam of the Time, Hadhrat Hujjat (atfs). To give sadaqah (charity) on his behalf, prepare delicacies, visit each others homes and feed the poor and the destitute.

Today, 8th Rabiul Awwal

Shrine of 11th Imam in Saamarrah
We give condolence to the Imam of Our Time, Hazrat Hujjat (atfs) on the martyrdom of his father, Imam Askari (a.s.) who was poisoned by the caliph of that time, Mu'tamid Abbasi.
Imam al-Hasan al-'Askari, peace be Upon him, said:
Generosity has a limit, which when crossed becomes extravagance
caution has a limit which when crossed becomes cowardice
thriftiness has a limit, which when crossed becomes miserliness
courage has a limit, which when crossed becomes fool-hardiness
Let this moral lesson suffice:
refrain from doing anything which you would disapprove of if done by someone else.

Big Egyptian Revolution: A Shock for Israel and US

This is big: very big.  I was talking to a friend earlier: this is possibly the biggest strategic shift in the Middle East since the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982.  The beauty of it for dreamers (and its alarm for enemies like Israel) is that it is unpredictable.
The biggest victory is that `Umar Sulaman is out of the picture now.  Israel/US/Saudi Arabia were hoping that he would be the extension of Mubarak until some other clone of Mubarak is found.  That was not meant to be.
Don't get me wrong: US and Saudi Arabia will now rush with bags of gold and cash to influence all members of the military command council.  The beauty of that is that there is no one person: it is a collective leadership (even if this rules for a transitional period) and the momentum of the Egyptian people will restrict their powers, notwithstanding wishes to the contrary by US/Israel/Saudi Arabia.  One person in the council will emerge; we don't know who: and there will be leaks and back stabbing and plots and conspiracies.
There will be chaos in Egypt: which is good.  People will come from nowhere: don't memorize the news names of this developing news story: you will hear of new names soon.  This is a big strategic development: if Tunisia affected Egypt: Egypt is destined to affect the entire region (unless you believe that the announcement of cash bonuses from the Bahraini King this morning was a pure act of charity.  Israel is in deep trouble, as is the US; Egypt was an intelligence and sabotage center.
The entire country and its dyamics are now unleashed on the word.  There will be new ideas and new current and trends.  Certainly, the freer the Arabs are, the more trouble for the US/Israel/Saudi Arabia.
Read the statement of the Saudi foreign minister: he just yesterday remembered the justice of the Palestinian cause. There is panic in Arab ruling circles.  I spoke to a dear Jordanian friend this morning: he was calling to congratulate me.  I told him: I now think that I will finally see your farm in Jordan.
Those who stood by the Egyptian uprising (the Arab people and Hizbullah--Hamas was too afraid to speak a word--and Aljazeera and Arab nationalists everywhere) will be in the good grace of the Egyptian uprising.
And those who were opposed: the Wahhabi Arab liberals, Israel, House of Saud and its propaganda outlets will be in trouble.  Let me put it this way: Saudi princes will not feel comfortable in returning to the brothels of Cairo anytime soon.
The shock for Israel and US is double: not only is Mubarak gone, but so is Sulayman.  The ouster of Sulayman ran against their scheme.  I believe that Mubarak arranged for that (although the people insisted on it) to get back at the US.  Leaving them to scramble.  The good thing is that Minister of Defense Tantawi has the leadership skills of Joe (six pack) Biden.  Stay tuned.

Iranian Revolution: The People's Revolution

Celebrations at Islam Gymkhana on 7th Feb.2011. Photo by: Ahmad Rizvi

The hall of Islam Gymkhana was packed with the friends and well wishers of Islamic Republic of Iran. They were from all walks of life, different religions and beloged to different Islamic sects. To sum up it can be said that they were the admirers of the people's revolution.
The celebrations was of 32nd year of Islamic revolution of Iran organised by Kumbharwada Welfare Trust in Association with Iran Culture House. Qazi Mehtab compered it fine. And the speakers after speaker showed their love for revolution and confirmed their faith on Iran.
After the recitation of the holy Qur'an, Naseer Pathan welcomed the guests. Mr. Ali Mohammad Mirzaee, the director of Iran Culture House inaugurated the programme in his unique style.
Sachin Ahir, the Minister for State for Housing and Industries spoke first as he had to leave for another function elsewhere. He said that the people made Islamic Revolution a success after uprooting the Pahelvi regime in Iran. He also reminded the Indo-Iran cultural relation for over four centuries. The current economic ties between both the countries is rock solid.
Hojjatul Islam Sayyed Hasnain Kararvi said that now the revolution of Iran has become a deep rooted tree, none of the so-called powers will be able to rip this out. It was successful because its base was Islam. Many revolutions have come and gone. But, this revolution upstood as its leader was religious and were the followers. The leader and the followers are like a needle and thread. In the early time of revolution nobody ever thought that a third power could come into existence.
The poets abdul Ahad Saaz,Ahmad Wasi and Qasim Imam also praised the revolution. Principal Sohail Lokhandwala shared his thoughts on Imam Khomeini.
A very motivating and emotional speech was of Kumar Ketkar who is the editor of famous Marathi daily. "Loksatta." He shared his past during the begining of the revolution. He was a journalist to "Economics Times" then, he wrote against the monarchy regime and supported the people's revolution. He added that the revolution come and go,but, this revolution has stayed for 32 years and still growing.
He pointed towards the misconceptions against Iran in the media, and the Indian media was itself one of the contributer to it. He emphasized that Islamic revolution doesn't mean that it is against other religions, but, it is against the people's enemy. He also pointed towards the ongoing uprising in Egypt and other Arab countries. Its is the result of the imperialist and colonialist policies of the so-called big powers and the capitalism.
Two books were also released one "Rustom-o-Fairdausi ki Sarzameen" and "The Valley of Love - Mashhad".
The Consulate General ended the function with his wise thoughts and words that all these things will only be successful by Justice, he reminded that Shia Faith has Justice as its one of the basic pillar. The justice has been embedded in the intuition of man by its Creator, and, we are waiting for the coming of Imam Mahdi (a.s.) that he fills the earth with Justice and Equality.

Shias have a "tremendous capacity” to absorb punishment. “Self-flagellation comes to them naturally,”

Newspaper Clip of DNA, 7th Feb2011 Edition
“The imposition of sanctions punishes ordinary people, who then turn their anger outward.. We are cautious about adhering to a broad attack on Iran,” India’s national security adviser MK Narayanan told senators Russ Feingold and Bob Casey, according to a cable sent from the New Delhi embassy to the secretary of state in 2008. The issue of the alleged Iranian nuclear weapons programme had been a sore point in diplomatic relations between the two, with considerable speculation in international and domestic circles about whether the Manmohan Singh government had secretly capitulated to the US efforts to bring on economic sanctions against Iran, a traditional Indian ally.
Contrary to fears, however, Narayanan came across as trying hard to disabuse the Americans of their notion that Iran was yet another hot-bed of Islamist terrorism.
According to the cable, Narayanan told the senators that Shia clergy are more “sophisticated and erudite” than their Sunni counterparts and sanctions on Iran will only worsen the US’s case. Pointing to the self-flagellation ritual performed during Muharram, Narayanan said the Iranian psyche had “a tremendous capacity” to absorb punishment. “Self-flagellation comes to them naturally,” he is quoted as saying, while trying to discourage the senators from advocating sanctions.....full story

Martyrdom of the Unborn Child, Mohsin

Two days after Hadhrat Muhammad's (s.a.) death(28th Safar), Hadhrat Umar al-Khattab led a party of armed men to Hadhrat Ali's (a.s.) house. They called for the men of the house to come out and swear allegiance to Hadhrat Abu Bakr, and also threatened to burn the house down. No one came out, so the armed men pushed their way into the house. Hadhrat Fatima Zahra (s.a.), who was pregnant at the time, was standing behind the door. Umar al Khattab pushed Fatima behind the burning door. He broke her ribs and wrist. Later, she miscarried a boy child, who was called Al Mohsin or Mushabbar. Fatima (s.a.) was gravely injured in the attack and died of her injuries some time later. One Can refer to LEsan Al Mizan Written by Ibne Hajar Al Asghalani, Then Mizan Al I'tedaal written by Al Zhahaby. Please also refer to the writings of Al Nazaam and #Al saffadi. The statement seen is "Umar Kicked Fatima until she miscarraiged her Son AL-Mohsin); About this Topic there was a discussion in Al Mustaqila TV as well, lasted for 90mins and the Sunni Ulema had afterwards no further comments to add and defend their claim.
The Shi'a believe that both Abu Bakr and Umar were responsible for killing both, Muhammad's daughter and grandson. For this section please refer to the Book Al Imamiah Val Siyasiyah by Ibn Qutaiba Deinevari, where we clearly see reference to Fatima condemning and Cursing the two.
As Fatima was dying, she asked Imam Ali to bury her in secret; she did not want Abu Bakr and Umar at her funeral.
Some Shi'a believe that Fatima was buried in the Jannat al-Baqi cemetery, in Medina, and that her grave there is now marked.[2] Others believe that she might have been buried in other locations in Medina and that Shi'a should pray at all three locations to be sure of honoring her grave. [3]
Mohsin b. Ali's (a.s.) martyrdom is widely documented by renowned scholars across eras of both the sects more

We give our condolences to the Imam of the time, hadhrat Hujjat (a.t.f.s.) on the martyrdom of Mohsin, the unborn child of the only daughter of the holy Prophet of Islam, the mercy to the mankind.

Fate of Egyptian Revolution

Efforts of America and Israel is bearing fruits. They are not in a hurry to decide Egypt's fate.
They are busy in facilitating "Orderly Transition" as per their choice.
Angry Arab says: If Obama and Hillary were around for the Titanic disaster, they would have advised that the ship was not sinking: that it merely needed the passengers and captain to engage in meaningful dialogue.
Mubarak will not resign unless a new puppet is negotiated.
Two aspirants are in the midst of the people in Tahrir Square, one al Baradei and another Amr Mousa (Arab League chief).
Let's see who plays Saamri.
Firaun (Pharoah) is on the verge of drowning in the Nile.
Moses is yet to appear.
Keep you fingers crossed. Let the Egyptian people uncross it.

A Masjid in Kerala being built by a Hindu Businessman

A Qatar-based Hindu businessman is building a Masjid in India’s Kerala state with the aim of promoting communal harmony.
According to CK Menon, the mosque in Kozhikode will be the first to be built in the state by a Hindu in over 1,200 years.
C K Menon said, Qatari daily Gulf Times reports on Monday said: Construction is going on. The Masjid will be ready in two to three months. Over 400 people can offer prayers in that Masjid at a time.
He said: So far the Cheraman Masjid, constructed in the late eighth century by Chera ruler Rama Varma Kulashekhara, is the first and only Masjid  built by any Hindu in Kerala.
Menon, who is chairman and managing director of the Doha-headquartered Behzad Group of Companies, said he had taken approval from Muslim scholars and religious leaders for building the Masjid.
Menon, who was awarded Pravasi Bharatiya Samman in 2006 and Padma Shri in 2009 for social service said: I have already taken letters from Muslim religious leaders and scholars. They are fine with it. God is one and people should respect and work for the promotion of other religions also.
Menon said he plans to build a church in Kerala. He added: Once the mosque is ready, I will start work on the church. We have already identified the land but final decision is not taken yet.
Menon, whose company operates in 13 countries, mainly in the Middle East, emphasized the need to promote the culture of philanthropy in India.
Menon said: Some people are already doing that, but a lot more needs to be done. Businesses are making money because of the common people. Every businessperson must give back to society a certain proportion of their earnings. He added that he spended nearly 3% of his earnings philanthropic activities.
